Back in August 2011, we reviewed 3 great note taking iPad apps for people on the move here at LostInTechnology. Given that note-taking is an important task in our lives, let’s review 4 iPhone apps that not only empower you to take notes on the fly, but also take your word processing to the next level.
Here is a list of 4 word processing apps for the iPhone.
Write Pad is an app that might be chosen by the iPhone user that prefers a hands-on approach to word processing. It includes special software so that you can input with a stylus or even your finger.
Perhaps this more personalized approach of direct input via hand writing will bring new insights as you get closer to your text. The word processing process, being freed from the keyboard, puts you more in touch with your thoughts than ever. Work on the go then copy and paste to your larger apps for those final touches.
As of 1/29/12, the app is available for $3.99 at the App Store.
Documents 2 is another full featured app that will place you among the literary elite. It offers multiple languages with which to express yourself in. With it, you will be able to view all of the popular text formats of the day.
You cannot edit doc files at this time. You can only edit in the text mode, but since it does offer Google docs support, you should be able to work in the cloud and manage any doc file edits from there.
As of 1/29/12, the app is available for $1.99 at the App Store.
Documents To Go-Office Suite
Documents To Go- Office Suite does indeed allow you to edit those doc files on the fly. Take your Microsoft Office files with you on your iPhone anywhere you roam. With mobile apps, you can get used to sacrificing features for the sake of that mobility.
This app destroys that notion by giving you desktop tools in a mobile environment. Automatic numbering and bulleting modes will make you forget you’re using a scaled down program. The included spreadsheet has all of the most important operations of its beefier desktop version like subtraction negation, exponentiation and division.
Documents To Go is a sweet suite that will give you the required tools to get that assignment in on time. As of 1/29/12, the app is available for $9.99 at the App Store.
You cannot talk about word processing apps for the iPhone without mentioning Pages. Pages is an app for your iPhone from Apple themselves. It handles your Word files with ease. Pages is a full featured app with all of the required elements of desktop publishing neatly contained in its programming.
It includes support for many languages. You can back up all of your hard work with iCloud. Pages does require a comparatively large amount of memory so be ready to uninstall some of your lesser used apps in order to make it fit. It will be worth it. As of 1/29/12, the app is available for $9.99 at the App Store.
