It has all been made possible because of two simple and free security programs that I have been using for three years in a row now. Needless to say, I am satisfied with their performance.

The first piece of software is Avira Antivirus.  The second….well, you’re going to have to check back in a few days.

woopraChecking website performance is an integral part of managing a website. Regularly checking and analyzing visitor stats makes us aware of current trends, current hot topics and most importantly of traffic driving topics which goes a long way in predicting user behavior and preparing for a wider coverage in organic search.

There are many site-analysis tools which let us check stats (i.e. Google Analytics, StatCounter). But the problem is they all run from the browser and lack a proper UI with live reports and actions.

Woopra, unlike these is a desktop client for your website and has huge loads of features which lets us analyze website performance in an easy manner.

The application is just out of beta and is available to registered users. Registration for Woopra is totally free. For registration and download, visit this page. The desktop client is available for all Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

password lockBrowsers are really becoming more and more user friendly with loads of features to take our browsing experience to new heights. The password wand, the password vault or whatever the name be, is an integral part of any browser nowadays. A browser without a password manager feels extremely dull.

The password storage feature allows us to login into any website without entering login details manually. This comes in very handy as entering login details, specially in cyber-cafe is not at all secure.

Now, lets say you visit a site after a long time and suddenly want to know the password you used to login. The password is there in the password manager, but it does not allow us to see the password. Or, say you forget the master password somehow.

In these terrible situations, we  can use password recovery tools for various browsers. These password recovery tools come in very handy and are totally safe and legal.

Manage Your Passwords with LastPass

Posted on 24. Nov, 2009 by Chinmoy.Kanjilal.

lastpassManaging many passwords over the Internet is a big hassle if you are registered at a lot of places. Not only does it become hard to think of new passwords, it also becomes even harder to keep them secure and remember them.

In these situations, most people are forced into using the same password for multiple websites which can be much less secure than having several strong passwords. This can be easily avoided using a password manager. A password manager needs us to remember only a master password, which can be used to access login information for all user accounts.

The most important thing while using a password manager is to check for features, otherwise it becomes similar to saving passwords in a password protected document. Almost all browsers have a password manager nowadays, but this application makes an optimal password manager.

LastPass is a free application with many options making password management super easy.  In addition to LastPass as just a software application, you can also use the LastPass Firefox extension if you prefer.

There are some unique features in LastPass making it the best password manager.

DiskMaxDiskMax is a completely free Windows software developed by KoshyJohn. DiskMax, as the name suggests is primarily software to free up disk space. It uses various methods to check for Windows space hogs like temporary files, logs, installers, caches and backups and simply removes or disables them thereby leaving the users with more free space.

DiskMax boasts of having removed 15 GB of junk from some computers. I removed 3 GB of unnecessary files with it when I tried DiskMax for the first time. It has been used by over 40,000 people and has been recently updated to support Windows 7.

FeedDemon: The Best Offline Feed Reader

feeddemonReading feeds is an integral part of keeping up to date with the latest happenings on the Internet. Almost all blogs provide their users with an option to subscribe to their feeds.

Now, feeds are a powerful medium of compact knowledge, but if you start reading too many of them, you have every chance of missing out the important news on time. Reading just a few of them might make you miss out on certain other perspectives of an event. In these situations, you run into a problem either way.

Another thing that can be a challenge with feed readers is that they don’t all provide offline reading options. This isn’t a big deal for everyone, but it can be for some users.

A feed reader goes a long way in making life easier.  I have tried out a lot of feed readers but none of them could attract me as much as FeedDemon.
