How to Find a Hotel with Google Hotel Finder

Google has developed many web-based applications over the past decade to help you do all kinds of things around the Internet. They let you look at wants on a street with Street View, and they let you track the latest posts from your favorite blogs with Google Reader.
Now, Google has launched another web application, Google Hotel Finder. This application is dedicated to helping you find a hotel nearby for anywhere in the United States. This neat web-based application helps you find a hotel that you may be interested in and lets you compare them based on user-ratings, reviews, price per night and so on. Let’s take a look at how it works.
Getting Started
First, head to Google Hotel Finder. You’ll be greeted in the new service with some example city names and a sidebar on the left with some options to use.
The Process
Let’s say you’re going to look for a hotel in San Fransisco. Write San Fransisco, CA in the search box and hit enter. You’ll be presented with a list of hotels in San Fransisco. You’ll also notice that as you hover your mouse on the name of the hotels a small dot shows up in the map on the upper left indicating where in San Fransisco that hotel is situated.

On the left sidebar, you have an option to choose the price range per night. For example, if you choose to find a hotel that has a price range per night from $60-$100, only hotels with that price range will be shown in the list. Just below that you’ll find another slider saying “compared to typical”.
We all know that hotel prices aren’t the same throughout the year. That’s what this slider will let you choose. This information is also shown along with each hotel name in the list.

Now, you may have already noticed that hotel names in the list have a button that reads “Add to short list”. This option lets you choose a few hotels and add them to short list so that you can conveniently compare reviews, prices, user-ratings and so on.
Map Listing
Another great feature of Google Hotel Finder is that you can click on the “Edit Shape” button that sits on the upper left, and you’ll see a map of the chosen city (in this case, San Fransisco). In the map, the hotels will show up in their location and you can click on the hotel to see a picture along with a review (if available), rating and a button to add to shortlist.

So, that’s a quick overview of Google Hotel Finder. What services do you use to find a hotel for your trips and vacations?
