How To Play RealMedia Files in Windows Media Player

I’m sure that most of your have dealt with RealPlayer at some point, and I don’t have to tell you that RealPlayer is a big piece of junk. It is slow, bulky and annoying. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way to play RealMedia and RealAudio files without RealPlayer?
Well, there is such a way! Real Alternative is a free codec that lets you play RealMedia with RealPlayer nowhere in sight. The Real Alternative codec works with just about any media player, but it does come with Media Player Classic.
The following Real formats are supported by the Real Alternative Codec.
- RealAudio (.ra .rpm)
- RealMedia (.rm .ram .rmvb .rpx .smi .smil)
- RealText (.rt)
- ReadPix (.rp)
Unless you like Media Player Classic, I would suggest downloading Real Alternative Lite. It is the same as the normal version, but it doesn’t come with Media Player Classic.
