How To Remove DRM From Your iTunes Songs
Posted on 12. Feb, 2009 by Kyle Judkins in How To
Apple recently launched iTunes Plus which allows you to remove the DRM from your iTunes track and upgrade it to a higher quality format. This is a great step forward, but there is a big catch. Apple is charging 30 cents A SONG for this upgrade. It’s basically like having to buy the song over again just to remove the DRM.
However, I have two solutions to this problem of getting the DRM off of your iTunes songs.
Burn and Rip Tracks From a CD
If you only have a few songs that have DRM, you can just create a playlist in iTunes, burn it and rip it. This is a quick and simple way that will strip the DRM from your tracks.
Liberate Your Songs with DoubleTwist
DoubleTwist is a software that will remove the DRM from all of the iTunes tracks you have legally purchased. First, install DoubleTwist. After the installation, open up DoubleTwist and click on the Sync tab.
Make sure your iTunes is selected then click the Sync tab again or drag the icon to the bottom where it says Sync this device. Once this is done, click on My iTunes from the menu on the left. Just click the Liberate all button and DoubleTwist will do the rest
All of the original files will be kept in tack, and new, DRM free tracks will be saved. That’s all there is to it. Enjoy your freed music.

As the music in iTunes is encrypted with DRM, you cannot directly put it on any non-Apple MP3 player. The easiest way is to burn the music to an audio CD and then rip it back to Windows Media Player or a similar program as an MP3. Or you can get some software to help you. I use TuneClone to do this. Though not free, it is very well worth a try.
Below is its step by step tutorial about how to get iTunes 8 music converted to MP3:
