Many of the Internet world ponder a day when you can update one of your statuses in the online world and forget about the rest. And with Facebook becoming the service of the hour, and Twitter being updated constantly, and Gmail Chat telling you which friends are online, one can be easily overwhelmed.

Let’s solve this problem.

The Methond

Start with Twitter.

Because Twitter is where it’s at. No, seriously. Twitter is where we will update first. Now, you may think, what a pain. Now I have to go to Twitter.com every time I want to update. Actually, there is an easier way. Go grab the free desktop client, TweetDeck, and use that to update. You can even use TweetDeck to update both your Twitter and Facebook statuses. OK. Now what?

Well, now that you have started tweeting from your Twitter account, lets make sure that Facebook is getting your tweets. If you are using Tweetdeck, you can skip this step and use TweetDeck’s built in Facebook status updater. If not, go grab the Facebook app, aptly (no pun intended) named Twitter. Run through the steps found here to set up the process.

Now that that is set up, we have one more step. Make your Google Chat status get up and syncing with your Twitter status. To do this grab twitter2talk here.

This app will sync all of your Twitter updates that do NOT begin with @ with your Gmail status. That means that conversations you have with others on Twitter will not be synced. Great, huh?

Lets review. You use TweetDeck, or the Twitter app of your choosing to tweet. If you use TweetDeck as your client, you can update your Facebook status from there too. Those tweets get synced with your Gmail Status and, if you need it, your Facebook status. Comprende? Awesome!

The Alternative

Now, let’s say that you have no problem adding another service to the mix. This decision makes the whole process a whole lot simpler. By using Ping.fm, you can update all of your network statuses at the same time.

1. Add your Twitter, Facebook, and Gtalk Status to the list of your networks.

2. Use the update page to compose a status, then press update.

3. Voila! At the same time, all of your networks will be updated.

I found that Ping.fm sometimes failed to update Gtalk, and did not update Facebook until I tweaked the settings. Make sure that are the settings are correct and that everything is working.

Do you sync your statuses? What methods do you use? Let us know in the comments!

This is a really cool option. BUT, twitter2gTalk asks you for your gmail password and looks like a phising website :( Moreover statements like “twitter2gTalk may use your email address to personalize your experience on their website.” almost scare you not to use the app. Need more information to confirm this is a safe and effective website. Also do we have some alternatives?
