Posted on 27. Jan, 2010 by Prasanth Chandra in Internet Tools
Google has made one’s life on Internet easier. Whether I’m talking about the million pound gorilla, Google Search Engine or Gmail, Google Documents, Google Reader, Picasa, or Google Calendar, each of these products plays a huge a role in our daily lives.
Google lets us discover new things, send mails, organize our stuff, share pictures, and much more. That’s just covers the mainstream Google products. Google is always experimenting and trying out new things. If I ask you to name all the Google products, you will probably miss several of their lesser know products. This article is going to tell you about 5 great Google services that aren’t very well known.
Google Notebook
How do you make a note of things while you are browsing sites on Internet? Having a notebook is quite helpful, but it is not possible to carry with you every time. Google Notebook is a powerful alternative that lets you keep your notes online. It comes in handy while you are working on any project or collecting information.

The best part about Google Notebook is that you can access it anywhere you want, provided the computer has an active Internet connection. This free online application is available as a browser extension of Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Google SketchUp
Google SketchUp is a free application meant for 3D sketching.
Unlike other conventional 3D CAD programs, SketchUp is so much fun to work with because of its user friendly graphical interface. You can even search for the designs made by other users on Google SketchUp, so that you can get inspired for your own design.
Google Page Creator
Google Page Creator is an amazing web based application which lets create websites and web pages. The pages you create will be hosted by Google itself.
Google Page Creator gives you 100MB of free storage space and a wide range of templates to choose from. It allows you to handle all the HTML and JavaScript elements without having much knowledge of them. It also offers three unique subdomains for each user such as http://username.googlepages.com.
Google Base
Google Base lets anyone that has a Google account post just about anything (text or images) as long as it falls under the Google Base Rules and Regulations.
It could be classifieds, ads, lecture notes or recipes. Regardless the type of content, Google Base makes that content searchable on Google. You are even allowed to add your own postulates which would help people to find your content.
Google Movies
Google Movies lets you find the movies being played near your home. It is basically a search engine which allows you to find the movie being played in the theatres near you.
Now, you need not scan newspapers to find the movies being played, as Google Movies offers the same service in a simplified manner.
Conclusion
Google has lots of great services that fly under the radar. We’ve covered 5 here, but I’m sure there are more. What is your favorite Google service that most people don’t know about?

Google has discontinued development of Google Notebook (though it still works and I use it). In addition, Google Pages has been converted to Google Sites.
