rotateeIf you have a blog or website, you might have tried selling advertisement space and placements for banners directly, but you only have so many places to sell and show adds. One solution to this problem is to have some type of rotating ads.

Rotating a banner is a term for shuffling the ad placements in a given space. It is like placing 4 or more ads in the place of 3 with all of them getting equal exposure, because they are all shuffling on each page load.  This can be very hard to accomplish, but Rotatee helps ease the pain.

What is Rotatee?

Rotatee is a script which lets you rotate anything on your website. It needs to be hosted on your own server and can also be used by self hosted Wordpress bloggers. Sorry Blogspot users, you are out of luck for this service.

Features

Rotatee can be used to literally rotate and place advertisements of any kind, let it be graphic banners, links, text, flash, widgets, Adsense or Youtube videos.

Installing Rotatee is very easy. You’ll need a MSQL database and some space (less than 400kb) to upload Rotatee on your server. When you’ve made a database, point your browser to http://yoursite.com/rotatee/install.php. Fill in some easy details and click install. Rotatee is now ready to go.

Upon login, you will have an admin dashboard where you can create campaigns and add banners.

When you add banners to a campaign, you can select its weightage. More weightage results in more exposure. So, you can select if you want your Tribalfusion ad to display more than Adsense or vice versa. You just have to copy the code of the campaign and paste it where you want it to display on your website. Clicks and impressions are also tracked.

Some Practical Uses of Rotatee

  • Rotate list of popular posts
  • Any kind of image ads like 125*125 in the sidebar
  • Affiliates and amazon referrals
  • Blog rolls
  • Paid links
  • Random Quotes
  • Embeddable videos
  • And any kind of ads, of course

Conclusion

One the whole, it’s a viable alternative to OpenX (free) and OIO Publisher (paid) and stands out because of its ease of use a simplicity. Take a look at the examples to see what Rotatee can do for you. Also, you can check out a live demo of the back end.
