WordPress is among the top content management systems (CMS) out there. No matter whether you are a novice, intermediate or advanced WordPress user, there are several common problems that we all face.

Here is how to solve 4 common WordPress problems with plugins.

Problem 1: Where did everything go?
Solution 1: WP-DB-Backup

WP-DB-Backup is an amazingly simple WordPress plugin that will save your life. This plugin must be at the top of your list of things to do.

This plugin lets you backup all of these key tables that are critical to restore your blog to its last normal state:

  • wp_commentmeta
  • wp_comments Exclude spam comments
  • wp_links
  • wp_options
  • wp_postmeta
  • wp_posts
  • wp_term_relationships
  • wp_term_taxonomy
  • wp_terms
  • wp_usermeta
  • wp_users

There are also some additional tables of data that you can recover, depending on your additional plugins.

The great thing about this plugin is that not only you can do an immediate backup of your WordPress blog (delivered to your email inbox or downloaded to your computer) but also you can schedule automatic backups that will be delivered to your email inbox on a hourly, daily or weekly basis. Now how cool is that!

Problem 2: My readers complain that my blog takes forever to load.
Solution 2:  WP Super Cache

WP Super Cache generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After an html file is generated, your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expansive WordPress PHP scripts.

In simple English: your website upload times will go down, because the server is processing simpler, smaller files. Your readers will be happy. Especially those ones with smartphones and dial-up modems (yes, you know who you are).

Problem 3: I have neither money nor time to hire a SEO expert to tweak my blog.
Solution 3: All in One SEO Pack

All in One SEO Pack is a very user friendly SEO tool that focuses on 3 key aspects of SEO.

First, focusing you in creating a title that is 60 characters  or less long, because most search engines use a maximum of 60 characters for the title of a page.

Second, focusing you in creating a a description that is 160 characters or less long, because most search engines use a maximum of 160 characters for the description of a page.

Last but not least, remember to tag your post with keywords.

By doing this 3 things right, you’ll be covering about 60% of your SEO needs as part of your regular blogging and spending no money.

Problem 4: My contact form sucks.
Solution 4: Contact Form 7

Contact Form 7 is a really simple contact form for those who are looking at it for that sole functionality. Easy to implement and use. This plugin can manage multiple contact forms, plus you can customize the form and the mail contents flexibly with simple markup. The form supports Ajax-powered submitting, CAPTCHA, Akismet spam filtering and so on.

    Hi
I use solution 1 and 4. I also have been using solution 2, but my blog is not that heavy yet so I romoved that one again. Instead of “All in One SEO Pack” I am using Headspace2, but maybe I will try “All in One SEO Pack” some day.
