Top 5 Video Applications You Have to Know

video-cameraVideo has become one of the most popular conveniences on the internet. Almost everyone has a webcam and since YouTube was born, millions of video clips have been uploaded online. But what is beyond YouTube? What else can we do with our videos online?

Let’s find out, shall we?

Twitvid

Twitter is now the biggest guilty pleasure of virtually everyone. Even celebrities and mainstream media send out tweets. And since every new application needs new and awesome functions, two guys created Twitvid. It’s pretty simple, really. Take your Twitter account and your videos, mix them together and voila, you can twit videos!

You have three options: you can upload a video directly from your hard drive, send a video to the given e-mail address (that’s pretty useful for mobile videos) or simply use your webcam and record yourself straight on Twitter. When your video is uploaded, it appears as a nifty video player on your site and as a link on your Twitter profile. By the way, you don’t have to create a new account. Just use the Twitter one.

TubeChop

Since I’ve mentioned YouTube as the online video trend ‘firestarter’, it would only be fair to present you a very useful tool, called TubeChop. Have you ever found a great part of a video and wanted to show it without the rest of the clip? Me too. So how does it work?

First, you have to find the video, which you can do right away on TubeChop. When you select it, they give you a video player/editor where you select the part you want to save or share. All you have to do then is to chop the video, and you don’t even need an account.

Stupeflix

While there are plenty of websites that offer you a “photos2video” service, only few of them are dead on simple and free like Stupeflix. All you need are your photos and a song. Well, you could leave out a song, I suppose, but anyway. Once your account is created, upload some photos, add so-called “legends” (which are actually a text that appears below the video) and add a song for a soundtrack. After your video is made, you can download it on your computer or share it on popular social websites.

Xtranormal

Have you ever thought about making your own movie, but couldn’t find an equipment, actors or places to shoot? Well, here you go. You can make your own movie right here, right now on Xtranormal. And the best part is, you create it with – typing!

It works this way: write your dialogue, pick the camera angles, choose your actors and their voices, add some sounds and the background. Then the app generates a video for you, which you can share or embed. Like this one below.

Videosurf

Videosurf not only finds videos by title (as any other video search engine does), but it can “see” inside videos all over the internet. It works really fast and searches sites like Hulu, YouTube, CNN, Comedy Central et cetera. You can search people in videos as well, and Videosurf will find them and show only faces on preview thumbnails.

I searched ‘Green Day’ and it first shows you people found in Green Day videos. Below that, videos found on several websites are listed and you can filter them by sources, categories or content type. Really useful if you are an advanced video seeker.

Conclusion

These five tools that I’ve covered today are fantastic applications, but we all know that there are many more out there.  Let us know in the comments what other cool video tools you know about.

The links for TubeChop, Stupeflix and Xtranormal don’t work, since they include your domain at the start.
    Interesting apps though — thanks!
