android-logoAs you know from my previous article, 5 Applications Your Google Android Phone Should Have Come With, I am a fan of my Android phone.  Today, I want to share with you 3 basic tips which should make your life just that little bit easier.

Quickly Access Contacts

Contacts

From the home screen if you slide out the keyboard and start punching in letters, the OS will automatically go into the Contacts app and start filtering contacts with the keys punched in. It may save you those couple of extra taps of having to start up the Contacts application and then scrolling through your finger.

Quickly Access Applications

Apps

Similarly, if you slide open the list of applications install and start punching in letters, the OS should start filtering down applications based on the keys hit. Pressing the Enter key or pushing in the trackball will start the application.

Recently Opened Applications

Recently Opened AppsOr if you find sliding out to be too much of an effort (we can all be that tad bit lazy) Android maintains a list of recently opened applications. This can be displayed by pressing and holding down the Home Key.

The only way to close any open applications is to root your phone and then download the task manager from the market. It won’t work without root.
