Today is Blog Action Day 2008, and the focus of this year’s Blog Action Day is Poverty. Blog Action Day is an annual event that tries to get as many bloggers, podcasters and videocasters together to talk about an important issue that is affecting the entire world. The goal is to raise awareness on the issue and to generate a discussion about the issue and the ways to solve it.
You can, of course, write your own post about Blog Action Day 2008 in order to further promote this great event. However, I know that some of you out there don’t have your own blog or website. If that’s the case, you can leave some comments about tips of any kind that can help solve or raise awareness on the issue of poverty. You may also want to make a difference by signing up for a great service called SocialVibe.
I recently wrote about SocialVibe in the article Make a Real Difference with SocialVibe. This is where I profiled the service and showed you the benefits of it. I’m going to try and summarize the service the best I can, and show how you can use it to help make a positive impact on poverty.
SocialVibe is a social service that uses your online influence to earn money for a charity of your choice. All you have to do is pick a sponsor and put a little badge that displays that sponsor on one of your social network homepages. You earn points by displaying the badge and through various other activities on the website. The points that are earned are turned into charitable contributions to the cause of your choice.
One of the choices is Hunger & Poverty. There are many other great options to choose from, but the focus of this Blog Action Day is on poverty. Go register today and get that badge up to start making a difference.
I proudly display my SocialVibe badge on my Facebook profile. It doesn’t get in the way and makes me feel great to know that I am giving back in such a simple way. What are you doing for Blog Action Day 2008?
