Control Your Android Phone From Your PC with AirDroid

The Android market is an awesome store for finding new apps everyday. This hunt for new apps brought me to Unified Remote, an app which lets us control your PC from your Android phone. You can read its review in one of our earlier posts.
Now that we have already seen how to control the PC from the Android phone, let us try and go the other way around.
Controlling the Android Phone from the PC has its own advantages. We can write and send SMS, control the phone’s music player and do a ton of other stuff.
Let’s take a look at how to do this easily with AirDroid.
About AirDroid
AirDroid is the most popular application that lets us run our Android phone without even picking it up, from the PC (except when you have to take calls).
AirDroid lets you access your Phone through a web-browser and runs a server on your phone. Your browser on the PC has to communicate with your Phone, and this is done over Wi-Fi.
Features
With AirDroid, you can transfer files, view photos, read and send SMS, install and uninstall applications on your phone, and do much more. However, the best feature of AirDroid, according to me, is the shared clipboard with which you can transfer links and other text from your PC to your phone.
AirDroid has a very easy initial setup. There is no desktop app to install. All you need is the Android app to start right away.
AirDroid includes a built-in task manager and a file-manager. The task manager can help you free some memory while AirDroid is running. The file-manager lets you search, sort, rename, delete and copy files on the SD card. An app manager allows you to see all installed apps and uninstall the ones you do not require.
You can also get some very handy device information from this app using the Device section.
It also lets you set a password for your app and use a custom port for use on the remote access server that runs on your phone.
Verdict
AirDroid is one of those great applications that makes your life easier. It saves you the trouble of constantly having to pick up your phone to do the simplest of things. Once you start using AirDroid, you will find it hard to get away from using it. Grab AirDroid from the Android Market at this page.
You can also look at Remote Web Desktop with similar features, available here on the Android Market.
