Fight Poverty with SocialVibe [Blog Action Day 2008]
Today is Blog Action Day 2008, and the focus of this year’s Blog Action Day is Poverty. Blog Action Day is an annual event that tries to get as many bloggers, podcasters and videocasters together to talk about an important issue that is affecting the entire world. The goal is to raise awareness on the issue and to generate a discussion about the issue and the ways to solve it.
How Can I Make a Difference?
You can, of course, write your own post about Blog Action Day 2008 in order to further promote this great event. However, I know that some of you out there don’t have your own blog or website. If that’s the case, you can leave some comments about tips of any kind that can help solve or raise awareness on the issue of poverty. You may also want to make a difference by signing up for a great service called SocialVibe.
SocialVibe
I recently wrote about SocialVibe in the article Make a Real Difference with SocialVibe. This is where I profiled the service and showed you the benefits of it. I’m going to try and summarize the service the best I can, and show how you can use it to help make a positive impact on poverty.
SocialVibe is a social service that uses your online influence to earn money for a charity of your choice. All you have to do is pick a sponsor and put a little badge that displays that sponsor on one of your social network homepages. You earn points by displaying the badge and through various other activities on the website. The points that are earned are turned into charitable contributions to the cause of your choice.
One of the choices is Hunger & Poverty. There are many other great options to choose from, but the focus of this Blog Action Day is on poverty. Go register today and get that badge up to start making a difference.
I proudly display my SocialVibe badge on my Facebook profile. It doesn’t get in the way and makes me feel great to know that I am giving back in such a simple way. What are you doing for Blog Action Day 2008?
Send a Note Mission Impossible Style
Growing up everyone wanted to either send or read a message that self-destructs after reading. Well, you now have a way to make all of your childhood dreams come true with Privnote. Privnote is a service that allows you to send notes that self-destruct after reading.
All you have to do is type in the secret message you want to send, and Privnote will provide you with a link to this note. Send that link to whoever you want to see the note. Once they click on the link, they will see something like the following.
Who will you send notes to?
Find Every Google Service in One Place
As Google continues its quest for world domination, it continues to add more and more services. Many of which are undiscovered by your normal Internet user. You could go to www.Google.com and search around the website to find all of the great services and applications Google provides, but this could take awhile.
I know you’re very busy, so just go over to Simply Google to find all of the Google services in one place. The site includes everything from blogs to software. I’m sure you’ll find all your favorite services and few things you haven’t seen before, so go check it out!
How To Reset Your Router’s Password
I received a comment the other day asking me how to reset a router’s username and password back to the default username and password. I thought this was a great question and worthy of a post.
In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively.
One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you’ve changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.
