Put an FTP Client in Your Browser With FireFTP

In the past, I have always had an FTP client that was independent of any other piece of software. In my article Top 5 Free Applications Every Blogger Needs, I mentioned FileZilla as one of those necessary applications.
I still believe that FileZilla is a great application and would recommend it to anyone, but I must admit that I have switched to the Firefox plugin FireFTP. I have found that with Firefox 3 being faster than its predecessor I can use many more extensions than in the past and still get the performance I want.
Anyone that has used an FTP client before knows they are all pretty much setup in the same way. First, you need to put in all of the information about your FTP server.
Once you get all your information put in and the settings the way you like them, just click the connect button. Just like the FTP client you used the day before, a window with all of your online files will open up. All you have to do now is upload or download files until your heart’s content.
FireFTP also allows you to add a nice little shortcut (it’s the seahorse) to your toolbar that will open FireFTP in a new tab once you click it.

For uploading multiple files, I’d suggest using other FTP clients like FileZilla. FireFTP is quite slow when handling multiple files (deletion, uploads, etc)

I allways had the same problem with my FTP clients like FileZilla or FireFTP, after a few minutes they broke the connection saying this damn timeout error. The servers I had didn’t have any time restrictions so I tried CuteFTP and now it works. I think it allways depends on how much you want to transfer for some small files I would also recommend FileZilla.
