If you are a fan of software with a small space and memory footprint, Snippy may become your new favorite screen capture software. All you do is download the 100 KB exe file, and it runs from that. There is not install needed. It doesn’t provide lots of fancy extras, but if you are looking for a simple and easy screen capture tool, Snippy is right for you.
Snippy allows you to capture screenshots either through a freehand region or a rectangular region. The rectangular region screen capture area is pretty standard for most programs of this type, but you don’t always see the freehand region. It’s really hard to free hand on a laptop, but I do like having the option to do so.

Rectangular
Snippy has very basic settings that are extremely easy to use. As mentioned above there are two ways to take screenshots, the settings allow you to pick which one you want as your default. You can also change the freehand settings and the hotkey for taking the screenshots. Screenshots can also be taken by clicking on the Snippy icon on your system tray.
Snippy doesn’t give you the most options, but that’s not what it was made to do. It was made to be small and simple, and it is definitely those two things. If you just need some quick screenshots every once in a while, Snippy is definitely a great program for that.
