Two Tools For Synching PCs
Posted on 04. Sep, 2009 by Kyle Judkins in Internet Tools, Software
Syncing two PCs may look like a daunting task, but it can be quick, easy and painless. Today, I’m going to cover two solutions for syncing your PCs.
SyncToy
If you have two Windows based PCs and a home network, then by far the quickest, “dirtiest” way to get this accomplished is with Microsoft’s SyncToy. It isn’t included by default with XP or Vista, but it is free, and you can download it directly from Microsoft. The only major issue with it is that it cannot be used with a Home NAS (Network Attached Storage) drive as there may be a chance of file corruption.
Google Sync
Another way to go is to use a web based intermediary. This may be the best option for mobile devices and dissimilar items – especially for syncing calendars, address books and e-mail. While there are plenty of pay services, I always prefer to go free when I can, and for that, I’d highly recommend Google’s Sync services. Windows, MAC, Linux, BlackBerry, Android, iPhone – they got you covered.
