With micro-blogging and short status services on the rise, such related services are following the trend. Pushing the addictive 140 character vogue forward, Musebin lets you create reviews of 140 characters or less of music albums and let other users vote or comment on them. Moreover, the vote buttons have their own style, you either yea a review or push it down with a nay.

Identi.ca Joins the Micro-Blogging Race

identica logoDoes the micro-blogging space have room for one more?  The Internet has spoken, and the answer is YES.  Identi.ca is the new micro-blogging service on the block.  It joins the party of services like Twitter, Plurk, Jaiku, Pownce and many others.  The next question you are going to ask is probably going to be something along the lines of “What makes this different?”

The clear answer to that is identi.ca is an Open Network Service.  This is a factor that truly differentiates itself from its competitors.  At its core, it is still very much like all of the other micro-blogging services out there, but by being open, identi.ca may open a lot of doors and opportunity for itself.  In a recent post, sarahintampa asked her subscribers on identi.ca why they used the service, and most of the responses centered around identi.ca being open source.

Plurk Tries to Take Twitter’s Crown

This has opened the doors for other services to step forward and try to take the microblogging crown. Plurk is the newest service that has been getting the most press as of late. Plurk has some very unique features that make it a threat to Twitter, but will it really surpass Twitter?

twitterTwitter is…hard to describe, but if I had to, I would describe it as text messaging with strangers. The makers of Twitter, however, have a much better description of their service.

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

Now that you have an idea of what Twitter is, I’m going to show you the basics of using the site.
