For all our Mac fans, I took to listing the top five blogging tools for the platform. Blogging has quickly become the media form of choice not just for individuals, but for large news outlets as well. The freedom that comes with blogging has attracted people from all walks of life, with interests as varied as stars in the sky.

With all the opportunity in the blogosphere, it was important for me to share the tools that I use as a Mac owner with the audience of Lost in Technology.  If you’ve not blogged out there before, these tools are not blogging platform specific. Blogger, Typepad, Movable Type and Wordpress all work with these tools. Take the plunge and share your thoughts with the world. Make sure you leave a comment below with your blog site so that our readers can visit and interact with you on your site.

Please note that not all the tools came FREE, some had a small price attached, but the software more than paid for itself when it came time to get posts done. If you are a MAC owner, make sure to check the series out and chime in with your thoughts on the applications, or perhaps if you use other methods, share those as well.

Tool #1: Newsfire

Tool #2: Ecto

Tool #3: Image Shackle

Tools #4 & #5: Pingoat & Pukka

Check back with Lost in Technology as we develop a new series of posts for Mac users!

In the coming months I will tackle topics to include software for blogging, designing, writing, business, creative, and educational.

My hope is to provide for you the best of what I have found, but also create an open environment for others to share what they use. I’m sure that there are Apple fans out there that want to give their two cents and I gladly welcome it.

The first tool that I want to cover is NewsFire. Typically, prior to writing I look for tools that will help me gather information. Before, I would aimlessly search the net for previous stories written on a topic, or go to the subject matter’s website for more insight from their “About” page. Luckily now a lot of that trouble is saved by subscribing to RSS Feeds.
